Sumario:One of the main purposes of the Mercosur during the 90’s was to strengthen the recent democratic regimes of the region. Even though the governments concluding the Mercosur’s agreement moderated their political speech, preaching for an economic integration based on commercial liberalization, they continued valorising the democratic consolidation and the enhancing of democratic values as a central axis of their integration. For this reason, it is not surprising to observe in the region’s film production, and particularly among the one of the countries of the Mercosur, the impact of the traces relating to the experience of dictatorships. This paper analyzes a set of co-produced films involving two or more countries from Mercosur, following the hypothesis that the co-production conditions between countries sharing similar historical and political paths implies certain differential potentialities and limits, regarding the expression of memory in aesthetic discourses.
