Through ethnographic observation in six rehabilitation centers, authors describe how the experience of internship is marked by transitions between waiting and hoping.In the evangelically orientated centers, rhetoric on God´s forgiveness, being born again, and the existence of God´s plans for every person, are the main resources for building hope. In the Twelve Steps model centers, the expectation on recovering children custody, reentering wage labor, and reentering school, are the main sources of hope.
