Sumario:The word attached to alterity and to the (co)production of meaning seems to be the touchstone of either Bakhtin and his Circle’s sociological method, and Patrick Charaudeau’s semiolinguistic approach. This paper’s objective is to discuss the relationship between alterity, form and meaning to the cited authors. In order to achieve this objective, we underwent a bibliographic research, eliciting the word as an analytic cate-gory. First, we present a review of Charaudeau’s double semiotization process and communicative contract, taking into account both general and immediate alterity relationship regarding the selection of words in the utterance. Then, we review Volóchinov’s proposition of the ideological nature of the sign as well as its spe-cific mobility; theme and signification. Finally, we intertwine our discussion through the constructs of social representations and ideology, analyzing the status of form in the creation of meanings in face to the other.
