EXAMINATION ON THE VALIDTY AND RELIABILITY OF SEPARATION ANXIETY ASSESSMENT SCALECHILDREN’S/PARENTS’ FORMS

This study examines reliability of the scale which Hahn and others (2003) have developed to evaluate children’s forms; Eisen and Schaefer (2005) have developed to evaluate parents’ forms with the aim of evaluating children’s separation anxiety, for Turkish children. Studies on language, scope, simil...

Studies on language, scope, similar scale, structure and validity of the scale and the reliability have been done within this framework. Children forms of the scale have been implemented on 382 of 60-84 month children and parents’ forms of the scale have been implemented on these children’s mothers (382) with the purpose of obtaining the data which are required for the validity and credibility analysis of the scale. Exploratory factor analysis, validity of a similar scale, coefficient of internal consistency (Cronbach's Alpha) and test-retest methods have been used in the analysis of the data. SAAS-P in the parents’ forms of the scale and SAAS-C in the children’s’ form of the scale have indicated scale’s reliability coefficient as .83. Sub-dimension correlation of SAAS-P and SAAS-C has been found as .83 for ”fear of being alone’’ sub-dimension and as .73 for ‘fear of abandonment’ sub-dimension.Saniye TEZEEmel ARSLANFırat Universityarticleanxietyseparation anxiety assessment scalevalSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 9, Iss 48, Pp 333-344 (2019)
