Social mobilizations and governmental will to overthrow  trade union leadership affiliated to the previous political system could have created opportunities to break trade union's subordination to politics in contemporary Venezuela. However, Hugo Chavez’s administration has maintained this link. Overthrowing of the previous trade union leadership by mobilizations has led to build a new leadership subordinated to the government. Political domination is still prominent in a context of growing mobilization and deterioration of workers-government relationship.
