In this paper the study is focused on the analysis of the public perception of fl ood risk from the Prut catchment area, for this purpose 10 villages were selected, which was applied sociological survey. 50 persons from every village were interviewed. The survey was realized during 2012. All villages included in the sociological study were affected by the fl oods of 2008 and 2010. The questionnaire consists of four chapters as follows: knowledge and attitudes towards the natural disasters from the Republic of Moldova, level of experience and awareness, authority’s attitude in actions of disaster warning and damage mitigation produced by fl oods, socio-demographic data. For processing statistical data the SPSS programme 16.0 version was used.
