Sumario:The Centre for Muslim States and Societies, in collaboration with the Australian Institute of InternationalAffairs (WesternAustralia Branch), held the Fulbright International Symposium at the University ofWestern Australia, Perth, on 1-3 August 2007. Associate Professor Samina Yasmeen (symposium convenor) welcomed the participants, and Professor Allan Robson (vice chancellor, University ofWesternAustralia) formally opened the event. The symposium’s objective was to explore complex socioeconomic, religio-cultural, and political factors involved in contributing to a sense of inclusion or exclusion on the part of minorityMuslim communities living in theWest.
