Description
Résumé:During the last years, scholarship on the topic of memory has grown with fresh impetus within the field of social sciences in Argentina. Many authors have linked this attention to memory with a sort of global cultural turn that would merge in Argentina with social and political demands for coming to terms with a difficult traumatic past. This article raises a question about this connection by discussing the problem of memory as a window to look at how academic production has sought to historicize Argentinean recent past. From a perspective that focuses on the changing political contexts which since 1983 have given shape to academic production on three main significant historical processes –political radicalization/revolution, dictatorship/repression, and transition to democracy-, we present a first state of art about the studies on the memory of Argentinean recent past. We seek to raise a discussion on the ways in which normative discourses and political views from the present about the past may or may not develop as fruitful historical questions.
