Many authors have linked this attention to memory with a sort of global cultural turn that would merge in Argentina with social and political demands for coming to terms with a difficult traumatic past. This article raises a question about this connection by discussing the problem of memory as a window to look at how academic production has sought to historicize Argentinean recent past. From a perspective that focuses on the changing political contexts which since 1983 have given shape to academic production on three main significant historical processes –political radicalization/revolution, dictatorship/repression, and transition to democracy-, we present a first state of art about the studies on the memory of Argentinean recent past.
