Sumario: | The creation of a board of government in Buenos Aires in May 1810 marked the beginning of the revolutionary process in the River Plate Viceroyalty. The new government formed different armies to deal with internal dissent and armies that sought to defend the position of the monarchy in these territories. The Auxiliary Army of Peru was one of the main weapons the new authorities in Buenos Aires had in order to confront the war. However, there are still few works dedicated to its study and even fewer oriented to know its officer corps. For this reason, we decided to approach these officers through prosopography so as to investigate some general characteristics of these men. Subsequently, we investigate how some of these officers were able to build political careers within the United Provinces of the River Plate after 1820, after the disappearance of centralized government. |
