Sumario: | This article is both a presentation of the dossier dedicated to the German, Spanish, Greek and Japanese translations of Arthur Rimbaud’s work and an analysis of some case-studies of Italian translations of the same work: I will consider translations by Ivos Margoni (Feltrinelli 1964), Gian Piero Bona (Einaudi 1990) and my own (Marsilio 2019) and will focus on Rimbaud’s “anti-poetic” language, on the rhythmic choices of the translators, on the maintenance of orality, on the appropriateness of retaining the rhyme system, and on the deviations from the linguistic norm. |
