Therefore, the elements in cultural codes of Turks which expand to centuries ago were affected from these changes and transformation. In cultural memory, in tales which tell the life of Satuk Bugra Khan, who is known as the first Muslim ruler of Karamanlı state, it is seen that many cultural codes of Turkish morals like " regard for visitors, levirate, oath, killing the enemy in sleep seen as vileness, salt-bread right, ancestor/grandfather/father right and unusual birth ( giving birth to a child without father) take place. In this study, one of the elements mentioned above" salt-bread and ancestor right" is reviewed related to public legislation, in terms of cultural change and Turkish morals. In this context, the transcripts from Cemal Karsi, Shaw, Grenard, Englang, Taskent, Sweden and Paris were studied in a comparative way. In these tales, while Satuk Bugra Khan was about to kill his unbeliever uncle, he remembers his "ancestor and salt-bread right" on him and gives up the opinion to kill him, primarily inviting him to believe in Islam. Finally, Satuk Bugra Khan, who curses his uncle who insists on not believing Islam, reveals a miracle that buries his uncle alive under ground and causes him die. His unwillingness to spill his uncle's blood can be explained in Turkish morals as both the person who is descended from the ruler carries God's gospel that is his blood is blessed and the respect for ancestors, that is ancestors culture. Therefore, it can be mentioned that, this belief before Islam gained Islamic identity as a miracle and formed a syncretic tissue.Emine ÇAKIRFırat Universityarticlecultural change, public legislation, ancestor right and saltbread right, satuk bugra khanSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 11, Iss 73, Pp 183-194 (2019)
