| Résumé: | This paper precedes an anthology of seven poems by Victor Hugo translated into Italian. In Italy, Hugo’s poetry remains little read, little translated, little known. In this preface, I recall the reasons for this cool reception of the poet in Italy for about a century, and then I underline the constants in the authors’ methods of translation, in order to finally support the ambition of these seven translations that have been made and commented by Italian poets of our time: to contribute to the return, in Italy too, of Hugo among the poets to whom we still give voice. |
