Description
Summary:The 19th century fluid and frequent contacts between Europe and America found in the illustrated press a recurring channel of cultural exchange, favored by the device's own mobility, which enabled it as an agent of information and relations. Technologies, images, content, artists and technicians, interact in a collaborative process that stresses the features of the production and multiplication of printed images in the periodical press. This tension oscillates between an aspiration to national messages and a somewhat globalized production conditions in the periodicals, with images and physical formats in general standarized but with the local material limitations. This instability and mobility of meanings characterize the 19th Argentine illustrated press.
