Sumario:Analysis of the effects of the commercial globalization on poverty. The sharp increase in economic growth has a positive impact on poverty levels, unless inequalities also speed up sharply. In the literature, openness is usually put forward as a factor accelerating economic growth. The word „openness‟ often hides a wish, if not an obligation, when negotiating with International institutions, to make it the result of a free trade policy. Then, the impact on poverty is fundamentally different. The subject of this contribution is to analyze the consequences on poverty of the various ways of carrying out openness.
