Sumario: | This review article was created by processing data from original scientific research focused on fruit storage experiments under ultra-low oxygen (ULO) conditions. Specifically, these were storage experiments performed in the last fifteen years in the RESEARCH AND BREEDING INSTITUTE OF POMOLOGY HOLOVOUSY Ltd. The research included apple and pear varieties as well as plum or cherry counterparts. Qualitative parameters, sensory traits, content components in the fruit or allergenic substances and extent of pesticide residues were monitored in individual fruits. Not only the choice of variety and the date of fruit harvest had a significant effect on the achieved results. The size of the fruit, the nature of the skin or the weather also contributed. |
