Sumario:The following pages offer a previously unpublished translation, into Italian, of a poem entitled Booz endormi, taken from Victor Hugo's La Légende des siècles, preceded by a brief analysis whose aim is to underline the very close relationship between the general interpretation of the poem and the subjective translation choices. Particular emphasis is placed on the figure of Ruth as the generative core of both the narrative and Hugo's lexical, metrical and rhetorical choices.
