Proliferative polyploid cells give rise to tumors via ploidy reduction
The involvement of polyploid hepatocytes in liver tumorigenesis is unclear. Here the authors use in vivo lineage tracing and show that polyploid hepatocytes initiate tumour formation through frequent ploidy reduction.
