Sumario: | Purposes of this study were to (a) determine teachers’ considerations about sourcebooks that used in flute education and (b) propose a model sourcebook according to the characteristic of intended audience and their objective. Participants were teachers (N = 47) who were actively teaching flute lessons to students from various age groups from different cities of Turkey. In the study, teachers have implemented a three-part survey including personal information, questions about current source books being used and preferences about the content of the sourcebook to be created. Personal data were not evaluated statistically.
According to the findings, teachers indicated that current sourcebooks were not suitable for amateur flute education and there was a lack of published sourcebook pertaining to amateur flute education in Turkey. It is also noteworthy that the participants, who stated that the lack of source books, especially from foreign studies, continued their flute education with a distant understanding from Turkish culture. Thus, a model sourcebook including Turkish musical pieces was proposed to meet the requirements of teachers. Thus, it is thought that it is an important research in terms of shedding light on the resource book studies that are planned to be created or are in the process of being created. However, this study is especially important in the context of careful music education, it is important in terms of the limited number of studies conducted in this area. |
