Sumario:The article discusses the relationship between tradition and mercantile practices of Small farmers - -merchants in the Sierra Botucaraí; analyzes some strategies for production and marketing around the “colonial product” and handmade as optimization factors in direct sales to consumers; seeks to understand the processes that enable the peasant reproduction by the mercantile horizon and the ethnic-territorial identity. In addition to a literature review around aspects of economics tradition, which involves techniques sociability, social construction of markets and social culture, the work involved field research, privileging observations and direct contact with people and interviews with open questions. It was felt that the social group studied streamlines its horizon mercantile reproducing historical and cultural knowledge. These mercantile elements are connected to the memories group and become reassessed and multiple meanings aspects.
