Sumario: | The dissertation entitled Colonial domination in plural examines the processes of subjugation and conquest of the Muisca, Paeces and Chimila peoples of New Granada, present Colombia, from the 16th to the 18th century. It observes not only the different resources implemented by the Spanish forces in order to reach their strategic targets related to the Indian conquest in the case of these three peoples, but also their variants introduced at the time of their confrontation with three different Indian socio-political realities. In this sense, the dissertation focuses on the determining role of the Indian factor in the establishment and conformation of the relations and mechanisms introduced by the Spanish colonial power. Furthermore, it analyses the variety of responses and reconfigurations forged by the Indian peoples in their interaction with the colonial power. |
