Sumario: | In 2006 the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and Russian society in general celebrated the 150th anniversary of Professor Pavel Ivanovich Novgorodtsev (1866-1924), the prominent philosopher, lawyer, politician, talented lecturer and educator. The anniversary of P. I. Novgorodtsev, the first Rector of the Moscow Commercial Institute, the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics being its successor, was marked by different memorial events, such as exhibitions, discussion tables, a meeting of the Philosophy Club. In March 2016 the bronze bust of P. I. Novgorodtsev was unveiled in the historical 1st building of the University. Apart from that the Department for Philosophy of the Moscow State Lomonosov University hosted the Russian Scientific Conference ‘Law Philosophy in Russia (dedicated to the 150th anniversary of P. I. Novgorodtsev)’, the library of the ‘Russkoye zarubezhye’ Foundation held discussions ‘Moscow School of Law Philosophy’, the Prague mission ‘Russian Move’ also marked the 150th anniversary of P. I. Novgorodtsev as a prominent figure of Russian emigration in inter-war Czechoslovakia. The article describes life and work of P. I. Novgorodtsev and tries to analyze how philosophic views, values and personal qualities of P. I. Novgorodtsev affected the development of corporate culture in the higher education institution, which was formed under his guidance. |
