Preconditioning, aerosols, and radiation control the temperature of glaciation in Amazonian clouds
The temperature at which clouds glaciate is controlled by preconditioning dynamics, aerosol concentration and radiation. Smoke can delay or favour glaciation depending on moisture, according to analyses of 15 years observations and reanalysis data from the Amazon Basin.
