As of the date, the pioneering name of Amasya city historiographer is Kara Müfti-zâde Mustafa Vâzıh Efendi from Çorum. He is the author of el-Belâbilü’r-Râsiye fî Riyâzi Mesâ’ili’l-Amasiyye. el-Belâbilü’r-Râsiye fî Riyâzi Mesâ’ili’l-Amasiyye is appears more like a fatwa book than a historical work in itself. Some parts of the work were allocated to Amasya history under the title of “Mesele-i Tarih-i Amasiyye”. The information about city history starts with the title of “Tafsîlü’l-Makâlât and Tekmîlü’r-Rivâyât”. In these texts, information about the location of the city, beauties, the reasons for its conquest and the buildings in the city before Islam are given. The work has its copies in various libraries. The second and the most important person among Amasya city historiographers is Abdî-zâde Hüseyin Hüsâmeddin YASAR. Amasya History for which Abdî-zâde Hüseyin Hüsâmeddin Efendi dedicated much of his life was completed as twelve volumes. Hüseyin Hüsâmeddin Efendi had first four volumes of Amasya History printed in old letters; however, since he could not print the last eight volumes, this part remained as author copy. Another name who contributed to Amasya city history is Osman Fevzi Olcay. Osman Fevzi Olcay, considered among the last period calligraphers, has three works named Amasya Meşâhiri and Amasya Diaries – Things I Knew, I Saw and I Heard along with the City of Amasya which he prepared as a supplementary to Hüseyin Hüsameddin Efendi’s Amasya History. Today, the perception in city history writing and history research has changed a considerably compared to the past.
