Sumario: | The article interects social movements research agenda and the Brazilian agenda on the judicialization of politics and public policies, above all. We argue that the concept of practical authority (Abers & Keck 2016) sheds light on both the dynamics of correcting injustices suffered in the context of Samarco’s crime-disaster (Mariana, MG, 2015), and on the ambivalence of institutional representatives. As a whole, the text asserts that the critique of institutional voluntarism is heuristically salutary to the research agenda on social movements’ their interactions and their effects on public policies. |
