The universe was consisted of all prospective teachers attending to Faculty of Buca Education in Dokuz Eylul University during 2012-2013 academic year. The sample of research was consisted of 269 female and 131 male, totally 400 prospective teachers. Data was collected by Heartland Forgiveness Scale, Self-Compassion Scale, and a questionnaire. Data was analyzed by using SPSS 20 programme with parametric techniques as, Pearson correlation, independent sample t-test and one way ANOVA. According to results, there was statistically significant positive relationship between forgiving traits and self-compassion of prospective teachers. Besides there were statistically significant positive relationships among all subscales of forgiveness scale (forgiveness of self, others and situation) and self-kindness, common humanity and mindfulness subscales of self-compassion scale and there were statistically significant negative relationships among all subscales of forgiveness and self-judgment, isolation and over-identification subscales of self-compassion scale. It was found that, there was no statistically significant difference between forgiving traits and self-compassion of prospective teachers according to gender. There were statistically significant differences between forgiving traits and self-compassion of prospective teachers according to field of education.
