This study also sought, address aspects of urban vegetation in Rondonópolis – MT, while a medium-sized municipality, which experiences a process of accelerated growth from the 1970s to understand the influence of vegetation on the quality of life in cities and its function in urban environments, this study proposes a critical reflection on the role of vegetation in urban ecosystems, through a narrative review based on scientific articles, books, theses and dissertations on the subject. This narrative review addressed the urban ecosystems against the intense urban growth and its consequent deterioration of environmental quality provided the urban population. Thus, this narrative review has allowed a better understanding of the influence of vegetation on the quality of life in cities, establishing the vegetation exerts specific ecosystem functions, which in large part, are completely ignored by urban planning.
