Sumario:The university-enterprise cooperation is important for innovation systems and the objective of this research was to understand the generation of knowledge and innovation in the context of interaction between a public university and an industrial Paraná midsize company. For this purpose, a qualitative exploratory study was performed using the case study method. Data collection was conducted through open interviews, with the directors of the company, with a member of the Core Technological Innovation of university and two researchers. For analysis, the data were transformed into explanatory categories, as follows: profile of the company and the university, origin and development of the partnership, knowledge and innovation within the partnership and difficulties encountered. The results showed the gradual transfer of technology and benefits that the company obtained from the established relationship with the university, particularly through innovation and increased product line and by market expansion. For the university, the partnership resulted in the formation of human resources and promoting innovation.
