Sumario:Minstrelsy tradition has been unquestionably one of the milestones in the continuity of Turkish culture for centuries. Minstrels have reflected the lifestyle and beliefs of the society, and their relations with the nature in their songs. Although based on oral tradition, Karacaoğlan is stil one of the foremost exponents today with numerous poems. He was widely known for his influence on his contemporary and subsequent poets, thus there has been a tradition called “Karacaoğlan tradition”. This tradition led to the use of Karacaoğlan pseudonym by other poets. In fact, sometimes the idiom “play poem” was replaced by “play like Karacaoğlan”. Karacaoğlan was considered from various aspects in many studies. In these studies, the concentration was on the most striking features in his themes such as love, lover, and nature. But the sense of humor apparent in his poems, though not intended, was usually ignored. In Karacaoğlan’s most poems, however, there are sayings and idiosyncrasies that make the reader or listener smile to say the least. To better present the features mentioned, modern humor theories need to be referred. In this study, the most ignored features in Karacaoğlan’s poems were analyzed. For this purpose, Karacaoğlan’s poems were evaluated in terms of superiority theory, psychoanalytic theory, and disharmony theory which are among modern humor theories. To be able to evaluate the subject, firstly, some information about Karacaoğlan’s life has been given with respect to minstrelsy tradition, then modern humor theories regarding his poems have been explained, and finally the findings in the poems including these theories have been demonstrated.
