Handicrafts are means of manufacture with traditional roots, depending upon talent, having distinctive regional, cultural and national characteristics and generating income. One of the most recognized embroidery techniques of Turkish handicrafts, Hesap işi, has survived till today in many regions within the tradition of dowry preparing. Hesap işi embroidery is traditional embroidery techniques which requires the transfer of the motif to fabric by looking and which has been conserved till today without loosing its traditional charactersistics. These embroideries have been used in many handkerchiefs, sashes, headscarves etc. The cultural being of our heritage should be kept alive n various modern applications for the future generations. Thus this paper addresses the ethnographic research findings from Kastamonu province to transfer the traditional assets to modern textile product design without deforming and lessening their values.
