Sumario:This study seeks to verify which relevant institutional aspects in the report of Rio +20 are addressed by research on indicators of institutional dimension of sustainable development. The Scopus research database was used to select the portfolio literature on this topic. Thus, eleven articles were used to show how recent researches are grabbing the institutional dimension of sustainable development with the intention of making assessments by means of indicators. Later, the points highlighted in the articles selected are faced with the objectives in the Rio +20 report. In general, we can conclude that despite the researches about indicators of the institutional dimension cover only partially the majority of the goals addressed in the United Nations report, they expand the vision about the goals of “limiting overlap or duplication of activities”, “strengthening national and local capacities for sustainable development” and “enhancing participation”.
