Sumario:This paper recovers the efforts made by the Alliance of Intellectuals for the Defense of Culture (A.I. CH) and the Medical Society of Valparaiso to offer political asylum in Chile to Sigmund Freud. These groups leds by Pablo Neruda and Juan Marín, respectively, formed an antifascist intellectual bloc to condemn publicly the harassment suffered the creator of psychoanalysis in Vienna in 1938. This work aims to extend this backgrounds, to know the motivations for this political gesture, contextualized by the role and new representations that intellectuals had of himself. Finally, this paper provides references about the particular vision that this group of chileans had about Freud -as author and public figure- and psychoanalysis.
