The objective was to identify the types of farmers and characterize their farming systems, linking them to local development. A systemic approach was used, seeking to integrate social, economic, environmental and technological dimensions. 163 questionnaires obtained through direct interviews with farmers were used. It can be seen that much of the county farmers is in a situation of extreme social fragility, practicing subsistence agriculture, and depending on income out of productive activity as wage labor and government transfers such as Bolsa Família and Safra Insurance. Due to low income earned and the unpreparedness to the climatic conditions (prolonged drought) they are subjected to, it can be concluded that these farmers can minimally ensure their social reproduction.
