Idioms in the local dialect of Ordu usually consist of possessive construction, adjective clause, gerunds, participles, repetition phrases, prepositional phrases, compound verbs and abbreviation phrases, and the excessiveness of word groups consisting of gerunds and compound verbs attracts the attention. Very few of idioms consist of malediction/curse words. They are generally derived from the word “baba (father)”. Such as baba cıkasica, baba tutasica, baba tutmaz, babalar ala, karababaya tutulmak. It is possible to come across archaic words in the local dialect of Ordu that have been in use from ancient Uighur Turkish to modern Turkish dialects.
