Sumario: | This essay critically reflects on practices of cultural extraction and reappropriation in the context of late capitalism. Based on the case observed in the Rito extinto project by the artist collective formed by Josefina Dagorret and Sebastián Escalona, we propose an analysis around the production of knowledge in the academy and how the fetishization of alterity resurfaces. Taking a second case, we analyze the merchandising created around Selk’nam Indians as an operation similar to the previous one but outside of the academic framework. |
