Sumario:The purpose of this article is to show a complex history, made of overlapping traditions, adaptations of models from other practices (such as the militant tradition of writing on the walls) which have built the murals phenomenon in Sardinia over time. By describing the context of the emergence of this phenomenon and tracking physical, symbolic and practical changes that have affected these paintings, we show these adaptations, variations and deviations that made the street art murals in Sardinia become a militant protest and more recently a strategy for public policy action and tourist operators.
