Sumario:From the comparison between the assumptions displayed by two important Chilean biographers and the work of the Mapuche leader Manuel Aburto Panguilef, this article explores the anthropological and theoretical issues involved in the concept of biography. In this sense we will discuss the different meanings that can take the notions of life and the notion of writing, regarding the different archive logics and policies that circumscribe them. While comparing forms of state archiving and forms of "Mapuche" archiving, we will use some recent theories on the concept of "fetish", in order to rethink the biographical issue beyond the ontological oppositions between life and death or person and thing.
