Patient safety is one of the main indicators of quality health service delivery. Both patient safety and employee health and safety also increase productivity in hospitals. In order for hospitals to achieve these results, both managers and employees need to prioritize safety. It is expected to show a committed attitude and take responsibility for all of its stakeholders. This study was conducted to provide empirical support for claiming that job safety culture is a determinant of patient safety culture. For this purpose, employees of all public and private sector hospitals in Elazığ province center were accepted as main mass and data were collected. Survey technique was used to collect data. In the questionnaire, Williamson's "Security Culture Scale" (27 items), Sorra and Nieva's "Patient Safety Culture Scale" (42 items) and demographic questions (14 questions) were included. As of February 2018, there were a total of 3,479 health workers in the mainstream. Of the 540 questionnaires distributed to the hospitals, 330 could be retrieved and 313 questionnaires could be evaluated. As a result of the research, participants were found to have a moderate level of both job safety culture perceptions (ao = 3,36; ss = 0,85) and patient safety culture perceptions (ao = 3,08; ss = 0,44). The determinative effect of occupational safety culture perception on patient safety culture was positive and mediocre. Work safety culture was found to be 25% effective on culture of patient safety [r = 0,503; r2 = 0.251; p <0.001].Erkan Turan DEMİRELGülşen GÜNDOĞDUEda EMÜLFırat Universityarticleoccupational safety culturepatient safety culturehealth sectorSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 12, Iss 75, Pp 259-281 (2020)
