Sumario: | The Netherlands invasions of the north of Portuguese America, from 1641 to 1644, seems to be a part of a greater attack the Dutch carried out on the Luso-Spanish empires. Moreover, those events have another importance because of the previous attacks they had performed on the northeast of Brazil. This article discusses the first impressions of the Dutch invasion of Brazilian Amazon, and the first attempt to build a local memory about the event in the first half of 17th century. |
