The proposed typology reflects the tendencies of the modern mass media space, where there is an increase in the influencing component, and also the mobility of genres and genre system is noted. The novelty of the research is seen in the fact that we have presented a universal method of typologizing the modern system of media genres, taking into account the current trends in the mass media. According to the results of the study, this typology is based on differences in communicative intent, which can be either informational or non-informational. The author divides the non- informational communicative intention into such intentions as phatics, open influence, manipulation and mystification, where each of the intentions is not a separate intention, but elements of a single scale; with each element proceeding from the previous one and representing its more intensified form. A genre system is being developed. It is proposed to determine the position of a genre in typology by calculating the ratio of objective and subjective modality in the texts of this genre. It is shown that the category “modality” is related to the author’s intentions: objective modality — with informational communicative intention, subjective modality — with non-informational one.E. A.
