The article is dedicated to the expositon of the political theology of Metropolitan Philaret (secular name Vasily Mikhaylovich Drozdov). He was an Orthodox metropolitan of Moscow, the first professor of theology in Russia. Under the influence of secular culture Filaret gives special attention to the theory of the state, creating the first in Russia historiosophical concept of the monarchy, based on a ‘symphony’ of the State and the Church.
