Sumario:Objective: Attachment relationship, which began to during infancy, may continue its influence also in the later developmental stages. At an early age, attachment developed between caregiver and infant, is directed to peers during adolescence period. The objective of this study was to adapt Adolescent Friendship Attachment Scale to Turkish. The scale has three dimensions namely secure attachment, anxious/ambivalent attachment and avoidant attachment. Methods: In study are used to Adolescent Friendship Attachment Scale, Relationship Scales Questionnaire and Personal Information Form. Research was conducted on a group of 420 persons attending high school in Sivas and Adana. In order to study the validity and reliability of the scale in Turkey, the internal consistency, test-retest reliability, the criterion dependent validity and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted. Results: Item-total correlations for the sub dimensions of the scale were found between 0.21-0.71, Alpha Coefficients for the subscales were varied between 0.60-0.89, test-retest reliability of the factors were founded 0.81-0.83. By using LISREL 8.7, confirmatory factor analysis was implemented to investigate the factor structure of the measure and the goodness of fit indices were as ?2/sd (648.27/227)=2.856, NNFI=0.91, CFI=0.95, GFI=0.88, AGFI=0.86, RMSEA=0.067, SRMR=0.059. These values indicated that three factor of the scale (secure attachment, anxious/ambivalent attachment and avoidant attachment) was confirmed. In criterion validity analysis was found to be expected directions correlations between Adolescent Friendship Attachment Scale scores and Relationship Scales Questionnaire scores. Conclusion: Findings show that Turkish version of Adolescent Friendship Attachment Scale has an acceptable level of reliability and validity. The scale consists of 23 items and secure attachment, avoidant attachment and anxious/ambivalent attachment subscales. Adolescent Friendship Attachment Scale can be used in further studies about the adolescent peer relationships in Turkey.
