In this process in which discourses simplified and daily elements gained importance, widely accepted aesthetic attitude of art was ignored and with the "art-life" approach, the art for everyone was created. Jenny HOLZER, one of the contemporary artists of the concept of art-life that appears in the context of a broader version of conceptual art, was born in Ohio, USA. He graduated from Ohio University Rhode Island School of Design in 1977. The artist, who was interested in painting for a while, later abandoned this understanding and was interested in conceptual art for more than 30 years. Holzer touched on many topics through texts throughout his life, and he processed these texts on very different materials. These range from colored papers to animal bones, from marble blocks to inscriptions on t-shirts. In these texts, the language of the artist stands out with particularly impressive and harsh attitudes. The artist especially exhibited his text-oriented works in public spaces other than exhibition halls and in line with these experiences, he aimed to bring his works together with his audience more easily. It is also observed that many of the works of the artist that met with his audience in the public sphere emerged on the basis of technology. In our study, the works of Jenny Holzer, which are integrated with pure technology and called "light aesthetics", were examined. Considering this limitation, the sub-texts of these works were examined, and the artistic fictions of the artist and the creation philosophy of his works were emphasized.Alkan BAYRAKTARFırat Universityarticlejenny holzerconceptual arttextlightaestheticsSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 14, Iss 84, Pp 57-75 (2021)
