Sumario:The article analyzes the key directions of transforming the American model of social security in the light of demographic and social challenges; it shows basic problem areas in social and labour field, trends in state policy in the sphere of labour, support of small business, aid, pension strategies. Serious attention is paid to creation of new jobs, raising efficiency of struggle against youth unemployment, strengthening the role of social partners in education and vocational training. The author points out to the dynamics of the poverty level, which for the first time since 2006 showed decline in 2013 and at the same time to the growing inequality in income.
