The use of computer means in the field of motor vehicle transport have taken on a special magnitude in recent times, and the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), also known as telematics systems used in the field of transport, comprise a wide range of tools and services deriving from ITS technologies, by using communications and information technology. Below we present a technical and managerial study with engineering nuances, through which readers look at and understand the concept of sustainable development in a global context, showing the possibilities by which ITS are able to provide important data related to the operational efficiency of the entire transport system, the quality of services, infrastructure management, improving road safety, reducing environmental impact, but also how they bring important information and data to managers, operators, passengers and drivers.
