Sumario: | The international post-war scenario and the victory of Juan Domingo Perón in Argentina´s presidential elections demanded deep changes from the Communist Party. Between 1946 and 1952, many debates took place around both the local adaptation of the Soviet cultural politics and the Party’s positioning vis-a-vis a triumphant Peronism. Both problematic fronts came together, making way for the gradual abandonment of the antifascist cultural style. This process was neither automatic nor passive. The field of culture became a ground for political contest, open in some cases, overlapped in others. In that struggle a new type of militancy took shape and the relationship between culture and politics was redefined. |
