The aim of this study is to analyze the cultural elements and their symbolic meanings in source culture through Yuri Lotman’s concepts of semiotics of culture. The analysis has been practiced on the original text published in 2008 by Floating Press. The ten different translations of the work by Özgü Çelik, İbrahim Şener, M. Ali Ayyıldız, Roza Hakmen & Fatih Özgüven, Nihal Yeğinobalı, Ayşe Banu Karadağ, Suat Ertüzün, Aylin Yıldız, Gökçe Deniz İnce, Derya Öztürk have been studied by the help of translation semiotics method through Yuri Lotman’s concepts of semiotics of culture such as semiospher, assymetry, dialogue and symbol. Semiospher is universe of meaning includes history, myth, traditions and many more. According to Lotman’s perspective of semiotics of culture this universe of meaning should be analyzed to realize the dilogue. As a result it is clear that one of the main problem in translations of cultural elements is the assymetry. The findings show that some of the tanslators avoid translating the cultural elements unique to the source text culture and wipe out the sign in target text. This appraoach causes cultural gaps. Translation is not only transformation of language but also transformation of culture. In this sense, to read the work interms of semiotics of culture and to have an analyzing approach will helpful for the problems such as assymetry.Burcu YAMANFırat Universityarticleyuri lotmansemiotics of culturesymboloscar wildethe happy princeSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 14, Iss 84, Pp 219-232 (2021)
