Sumario:Family therapy deals with the process of a family and the communication of the members with each other. Today there are many family therapy approaches and each has different kind of the techniques. In spite of the fact that there are family therapy studies addressed by film analysis in the literature, studies that a family is dealt in the framework of different theories are rather limited. In this study, a number of techniques will be dealt with the framework of theories of the leading family therapists such as Satir, Minuchin, Bowen and Haley, with the film in analysis "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and the existing concepts will be supported with concrete examples through the family pattern in the film. As a result, this article will be a resource for professionals either working or continuing their education.
