Sumario:The Professional success of a teacher depends on his/her self-development. The Professional success can be reached through the effective use of instructional techniques and methods. Modern methods and instructional activities will make the classes more appealing to the students. The appealed students will participate into classes more actively. The evaluation techniques that a teacher uses will be a guide for him/her. The teachers will give feedback about the students and their development. Implementing all these procedures is closely related with pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). Thus, it is possible to say that a teacher having a vast PCK is meant to reach his/her goals. The current research is conducted to determine the elementary school teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge. The participants were 10 elementary school teachers in 2012-2013 fall semesters. Semi-structured interview forms and class observations were used to collect data. . For the current study, Turkish language lessons of 12 teachers were observed (2 hours each). The observations were done in different days. It was observed that the teachers are teaching their courses depending on students’ course books, students’ workbooks and teacher’s guide book. The teachers were observed that they did not employ an instructional activity independent from the mentioned books. The curriculum knowledge, content knowledge, methodological knowledge, evaluation knowledge were examined through the pedagogical content knowledge. The results showed that teachers’ knowledge about the curriculum and content knowledge were inadequate. The results also indicated that the traditional teaching approaches have still been affecting the elementary school teachers.
