Sumario:Since early ages, Niğde like many province regions of Anatolia carried the traces of various cultures and civilizations. Various tribes who come at different times occupied and settled to the region in different time frames. Niğde which is situated in migration wave which happened between Anatolia and Turkistan following 1071 Malazgirt War, appeared as a place which is shelterer of Turkish population in period of beyliks former Ottoman Empire. Migrant settlers who come from Ottoman’s conquered North Syria laid the foundations of settled life thanks to integration of agriculture and husbandry. This study set out to elaborate on the population features of Muslim, non-muslim, immigrants, and tax-free people lived in deputies and provinces of Nigde center from beginning to end of XVI. century. In general, it was found out that the population of that region increased gradually. The ratio of non-muslim people in that era (1500,1518 and 1584 years) was determined as not exceeding 10 % of the total population through the analysis of three ‘tahrir’ registers. Along XVI. century which is our period of study, migrant settlers played a significant role in connection with population structure. In the early of related century, it is understood that migrant settler communities was engaged in agriculture in arable field. Mentioned communities constructed villages and settled to the province in the later century. It is understood from documents that cavalryman, imam, hatip, , âmâ, muhassıl who is tax free people’s number raised gradually 296 in I. Tahrir (1500), 587 in II. Tahrir (1518) and 1586 in III. Tahrir (1584).
